In the mid to late 1960s, the cool music on a New Zealand university campus was folk. Pop and rock thrived in the city and was all over the radio, but the music that really drew the crowds at university was folk.

It attracted the cool and the weird, the long-haired, the bare-footed, the ones who seemed to be ahead of the loop in all things political and artistic.
