Pluto

Pluto seemed to appear out of nowhere at the turn of the millennium and immediately had success on student radio with two sparse, poppy acoustic tracks, 'She's Jive' and 'Hey Little'.

Yet their real aim was the multi-layered rock sound they achieved on their long-delayed second album, Pipeline Under The Ocean (2005), which sold double platinum. Another album followed and the group began to fragment soon after, though the individual members continue to appear in different guises on the local music scene.

Trivia:

Pluto’s first gig supporting Neil Finn came through a friendship with Bic Runga and she added backing vocals to ‘Bananas in the Mist’ on their first album. They returned this favour by working with her – Borich recorded drums and Arnold recorded guitars/ bvs for her album Beautiful Collision (2002) and Arnold also appeared on Birds (2005).

Borich appeared on the P Money single 'Falling Down' in 2010.

Mike Hall’s first experiences in the Auckland live scene were as the singer of hardcore band, Balance.

The painting on the cover of Red Light Syndrome is by Matthias Jordan.
