From its inception until the time it moved offices to Auckland in 1988, the number 3000 meant just one thing to countless New Zealand (and as time passed, more and more offshore) indie music buffs: the Flying Nun post office box address in Christchurch.

In the first few years, Flying Nun, in most months, had a unique advert of new releases, catalogue and often more, in the pages of RipItUp. These were done in-house by the likes of Chris Knox and Ian Dalziel. This mail order played a big part in keeping this label afloat.

AudioCulture has collated a page of these and to it, we've added several of the catalogues and release sheets sent out to retailers. Uniquely Flying Nun, these are an integral part of the story of one of New Zealand's greatest labels.
