Turner's previous duo Little Pictures was signed to Auckland label Lil' Chief Records. Turner continued the association with The Eversons. The band emerged live playing alongside Auckland acts Princess Chelsea, Lawrence Arabia, The Brunettes, Street Chant, Ghost Wave and Rackets.

Prior to The Eversons, members of the band played in Mechano, No Aloha, Razorwyre, The Body Lyre, Fighting The Shakes, The Insurgents and Spook The Horses.

Two EPs, The Eversons (2011), and tribute EP With A Little Help From Our Friends (2012) featuring contemporary New Zealand artists including Street Chant and Princess Chelsea covering Eversons songs, have been released.

The latter followed the band's debut album Summer Feeling (2012), which was well received critically.

Simon Sweetman wrote in his Blog On The Tracks column, "The Eversons have released what feels pretty close to a classic."

They also received public support from Lawrence Arabia, Samuel Scott of The Phoenix Foundation and Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand.

In October 2012, following controversy on their Facebook page, The Eversons deleted their song 'Harlot' from their sale catalogue and issued a public apology for it.  

They have performed live around New Zealand and opened for Deerhoof. In February 2013 they toured Australia with The Wedding Present.

Outside of live performance and recordings, their music has appeared in local television show Go Girls and local film How To Meet Girls From A Distance. 

Shann owns his own recording studio, where he records, mixes and masters The Eversons' music.
